This lonely tree was my chosen subject
Experimenting with different light conditions in landscape photography is everything. Too often people will find a great subject and background but the light is flat or too bright and they will shoot anyway. I'm learning that you should never settle for bad light in any form of photography.
On this day I went out scouting early in the morning to find the subject and background that I wanted. If you have time to find the right place to shoot beforehand it will help your photography immensely. As they say preparation is everything!
The good thing about landscape photography is that your subjects won't move around, in this case it was a tree that really caught my eye with the volcanoes as the backdrop. I set up and took a few shots during the day which I was pretty pleased with, but what I really wanted was to come back during the blue hour which happens just after sunset.
The same tree during blue hour
The place looks like it's somewhere in Africa. Am I right?
It's in Chile
