You know, we all claim to love someone. Family, friends, people we're in romantic relationships with, and the like. For the romantic lot, sometimes we keep the feeling locked up inside and other times, we make moves. One thing leads to another, the people we love hurt us. Then we're bitter towards them and subsequently don't want anything to do with them again.
But we forget, God is love💞. He is the first, and probably the only, proponent of true love. And he demonstrated His love for us all by sacrificing His only son so we may not encounter eternal damnation. So that it would be easier to go to Him, and He would listen. That is MERCY. That is FORGIVENESS. That is TRUE LOVE.
So we could say that true love encompasses forgiveness, mercy and redemption. I baffle when I see couples fight over very funny stuff and refuse to let go because of the "he hurt me so he should apologise first" syndrome. And let's be honest, man is naturally egoistic and that apology will most probably never come.
Then I'd hear that that couple broke up. A couple that were head over heels in love with themselves last week could not let go of some things and move on. It begs the question, "were they in love at all?"
