I'd like to elaborate on this awesome sign that's doing the rounds. It's easy to feel small and powerless in this gigantic cluster of a world but we make decisions every day about where to shop and with that, yields actual power! I believe most of the worlds problems today can be heavily blamed on an inequality that has gotten way out of hand.
CEO to worker pay in 1965 was 20 - 1, it is now about 300 - 1. The market and real wages seen in this graph offers no correlation since the early 1980's!
This is a problem, and trying to rein it a little does not = socialism! But no matter where on the political spectrum you land, you'd probably agree with the sentiments behind this sign. Maybe shopping at the small grocers costs you 10% more? Isn't it worth it to know you're money is helping to equal this gap even if its small?
We vote every day with our wallets and this is where our true power can be found, use it.
p.s. I'm as guilty as anyone with my predictable Starbucks latte and convenient amazon prime account but I'm gonna try and do better. SPREAD THE MESSAGE!
