We all know India is famous for its hand-looms. Which are made with the knowledge from 15th century. Today I had the opportunity to visit one of the oldest hand loom vendor of India. Located in the busiest streets of Nation's capital New Delhi.
Most of the hand looms made are from cotton. This cotton is mostly supplied by one of the states in India and it is more viable for making. Many of the cotton used in world is mainly cultivated in india and that is one of the reason india has attracted many import agents.Hand looms have seen increase in demand recently somewhere from 2014, this is because of the initiative taken by our prime minister.Handlooms made in india have high demand in international market due to their uniqueness and also they're made by hands of the most talented artists. The techniques they use in weaving are more versatile and have more concentrated workmanship.
This is me wearing one of the cotton Saree made by two men for ten days and they used pure cotton and the fabric feels so soft on my body and the artistic work they have done over it is really amazing. Its design dates back to 17th century and it really takes so much time and dedication to make one of these.
This is one of the oldest Saree making machine used by the makers and this picture is of a Saree making process. This machine lets the weavers to arrange the threads in a way that the design of the Saree is elevated to artistic levels. The very working of this machine is quite loud but it does a pretty great job.
I would say indian hand looms are must wear clothes in a life time because they feel so good and make you look more pretty than the modern dresses. If you ever visit to india make sure you buy one of these for yourself and your loved ones
