That's one of the things that really burns my brain on a daily bases. People not willing to spend a bit of time/energy in order to save exponentially in the future.
I'm a researcher, you wouldn't believe how many of my peers flat out refuse to learn basic things that would make their lives easier and their time spend more productive. And I'm not talking about old farts that will retire in a year or two, but people younger than me spending numerous hours daily on repetitive tasks that can be automated in a matter of minutes.
Just the other day I almost had an aneurysm watching one of my colleges opening one of our web-pages using this procedure.
- using the mouse: click on start, click on the browser - while the same browser is actually the active window
- typing "http://www.google.com" into address bar - homepage is set on some kind of antivirus page
- typing "http://www.ourservice.ourdomain" into Google search bar
- selecting our service from search results because of a typo
She did this 5 times in 10 minutes.
And, she probably does that a 100 times a day.
The horror!
