Machu Picchu is a 15th-century Inca citadel, which is situated in mountain ridge (2,430meters and 7,970ft above sea lvl!) Its in Cuaco Region, Urubamba. Country: Peru. American historian Hirman Bingham then later founded and it was known more world wide in year 1911.

I have been planning a visit to Peru for a year already, KLM's had a sale on its Amsterdam - Lima route, almost bought them then.
A really badly want to see Machu Picchu, but here is my biggest concern:

crowds

I want to feel what the Inca culture was about and being horded in a tourist group for the sake of taking some pictures isn't really my idea of experiencing culture.

Do you know, are there any other Inca sights similar to Machu Picchu (of course not in scale, but at least in their significance)?

Hello! Yea its maybe better just to go there alone/with own crowd, not with a tourist trip. Not a fan of the tourist trips either, they're kinda lame and boring. Buying a tourist book and reading by itself can be a way to know about it too (and be a real explorer) I found this by searching google, maybe this could help: http://www.touropia.com/ancient-inca-ruins

Never really been there, it would be amazing experience :)
