The Time Out

We all go through phases where there are so many things going on inside us. Mixed emotions, turbulent feelings, thoughts that cannot easily get in order. When the noise in your head is too loud you cannot tolerate any sound out of it. But guess what. Nobody cares.

Everyone somehow believes that bombarding others, bombarding you with their worries and thoughts and ideas and hopes and wishes and everything that crosses their mind, is absolutely fine. And it is, when you are in the mood for listening to them. When you are open to any conversation. But we are all humans and as humans we all have our issues and sometimes we want to isolate ourselves in order to think, to relax or to just avoid anyone.

However others don't get that. If your physical appearance is anywhere around, if they can reach you in any way, then it means that you are available. That you are there for them, to listen to anything they want to share. Unless you go there...

To a cottage in the woods, with no cellphone and no trace behind you. You have to get lost, to disappear, to vanish in order to make clear that you-want-to-be-alone. That you want no company, that you want to listen to nothing, to no one, you want to say nothing, you want to give no advice. You just want to be with yourself.

Is that bad? Does it mean that you are mean? A misanthrope? Antisocial? Does it mean that you are crazy? That you are in deep depression? That you are about to commit suicide? NO. It doesn't mean any of the above. It just means that you want to take a time out. Not a time out in space. A time out in your house, with your cell phone by you and your car parked outside...
