This is why I am blessed to have well water. The city even ran a pipe part of our road this year. Wanting us to pay an outrages fee to connect to city water. It’s still under debate if it will be a mandatory hookup to their water system. I guess part of their budget included taxes from people paying to connect. Turns out people did not want city water. At the very least we are now within range of a fire hydrant to reduce the insurance costs slightly.
At least knowing them it will take the local government many years if they end up forcing mandatory hookup. Took them 4 years to put in sidewalks that took away peoples land. We had already planned for a possible sidewalk when we moved in over 10 years ago. Many did not seem to be aware and where at the very least pissed about losing trees, plants and having to see a sidewalk in front of their house. The funny thing about all this is they will have remove sections of their new sidewalk to hook people up to city water. What wonderful planning.
