Why is this news, you might ask. Well, let me tell ya why I am so damn excited about a bed!
At the ripe age of almost 30 years, I have my very first new bed. Not a hand-me-down and used. My very own, proper good bed.
My previous bed was nice in that mom had made it and it had good storage space under if, for bodies and what not. But the mattress on it, was older than I am. Yes. The mattress is 30 years old. Jesus, I know. It’s too old to be used even as a dog bed. Maybe suited for a junkie living in an abandoned house, not for a normal person who is quite particular about her personal hygiene. But you know, it is what it is, choices choices.
I am getting old and I have problems with my lower back, a soft bed is not helping with that at all. Ever since I threw my back out last spring, I’ve been really noticing that I have trouble sleeping on my stomach. I tried to sleep on my back from time to time, but I always roll over at some point and wake up with an aching lower back.
When I knew I was moving soon, I decided now it's the time to invest in a good bed. It feels ridiculous to have to spend a months worth of wages for a bed, but I assume it will last me for at least the next 20 years. I have now slept three night in my brand spanking new continental style bed, and my lower back is loving it! Though it does not make getting out of bed any easier....
Now I have to buy a new bed, I don’t like people 1 up me 😂

Selling handcrafts is pretty useless if someone wants to make money, nobody wants to pay for the time it takes to make them. That being said, there are a lot of tutorial on Youtube and a lot of people already selling these on Etsy :D
The loss of stomach sleep seems to be a depressing milestone of approaching 30. I think I lost mine about a year ago - age 31. Up until a few years ago, the same thing - I was sleeping on my husband's ex -roommate's mattress of unknown age and questionable smell. I don't know why I waited so long to upgrade...
So congrats on apartment and bed! Who knows, maybe that mattress will restore your stomach sleep.
I guess there are more interesting things to use money on than a mattress. Travel, shoes, clothes, food...
I sleep on my stomach again, very comfortably so! I chose a mattress that is pretty hard, I think it's really good for my back :)
It's always so good to have a new mattress and bed. A good night sleep is pretty important and when you consider a month's wages amortized over 20 year's that's very reasonable! Well done you.
I'm back today, finally proper posting and trying to vote and see. I'm still a bit timid to know if we are back to normal Steemit again? So far so good!
I use the same reasoning for buying expensive leather goods too, seems to be working fine :P
From what I gather, everything seems to be in order now, voting power and mana all restored and working. At least for now.
That's what's good about getting really well made shoes as you can always have them resoled and stitched. It's the old idea of more expensive but less things that last longer that you can repair or use a long time. It doesn't fit normally with our consume consume toss out society, too bad really.

You are absolutely right! There is a saying in Finnish, roughly translates to: "A poor person can't afford to buy cheap things", and I think it's very true.I always say it to my friends who admire my nice knitwear and keep buying shitty polyester ones from the high street.
I do wonder how someone can call you sir when there are pictures of you in the post, but...but...but...
Anyway, I get what you mean. I remember when we moved to our current house (eons ago) the price for the bed seemed enormous - who would think a bed costs that much? After all, it's just sleeping.
But the more attention I pay to my sleeping, the more I appreciate this bed..it's served me well for a great many years. So yep, a good bed is definitely a worthy investment!

The price of the bed only stung when I payed it, after sleeping in it, I already think it's well worth the money!
LOL duuuuudde! I’ve been mulling over purchasing a new bed for a while now since mines well fucked in the middle! Feels like a white girls mom hypnotized me coz I’m stuck in the sunken place
I keep lying to myself that I don’t need one until I wake up and my back feels like I took a knee to it
Then I’ll sleep over at my parents place on a new bed and I’m like fuck this thing is hard as fuck I’m not going to get a new one and sleep this thing in!
So I’m currently in this cross roads, spend a small fortune on a new bed or not? 🤔🤔 what’s your take on it? Worth it?

Beds are important especially for your back. A good investment and I know they are not cheap.

A good bed and mattress is one of the best investments you can make in life :P also bought my first real bed when I was over 30 ;)
The teenage years are behind me, gotta start acting like it, investing in good sleep seems to be a good idea for better adulting :D
It's so good to hear that she bought a new bed, I also had a bad that I kept for many many years and felt I needed to replace it, the new bed is very nice and much nicer than the old bed ever was but for some reason I still miss this bed, I hope that you do not have the same experience that I've had with my new bed, I sometimes wake up restlessly in the middle of the night wishing that I had not given this all but a way and kept it in a spare room where I can sleep on it on nights that I'm unable to sleep on the new bed. I love these photos of you waking up on your new bed and looking vigorously awake and ready to start a new day and I'm glad that your lower back is feeling good it means that you probably have chosen a proper bed for yourself and you will not feel bad about spending a month's worth of wages. I wish you and your bed all the luck in the world and hope you to grow to love each other the way I did with my old mattress, thank you for sharing

It was a tough choice between a hard one and an extra hard one, I took the hard one, I think it will be good for me, I'm so tiny.
You are tiny so I'm assuming the hard one is good enough. Just as long you're not going for soft. Hope the hard one will help you sleep better and avoid back problems
