When we moved in, we discovered that Heath Robinson had done a lot of things around the Sandbag House. Needless to say, The Husband did a lot to address shoddy workmanship.
One area where they cut corners was the compaction of the stoep and throwing a slab - with proper drainage - on the south side of the house. Addressing this has been on the to-do list. Forever.
Work is happening:
The north and east stoeps have been levelled with new screed.
Mercifully, our fears that they had to be recompacted were unfounded: a huge saving.
Next, the slab and the front (which is actually, officially the back) stoep on the south and north sides. Then the interior work begins.
My goal: done by end June with a soft launch in July.
Just putting it out there....
Oh, and watch out for the pew: I have a plan for it. 😉
Until next time

Good to get going on projects yet to be done, always a bonus when not as bad as first thought, great savings.

Thanks, Joan. I hope the rest of the project runs as smoothly.
Trust you're coping.
These projects never stop, good to keep on top of things, great to see you finding your feet again.
Today started/continued house renovations, awning, car-port, shed roofing needed replacing, plans only returned 1 year later with go-ahead. Still trying to make sense of the last months. Fortunately Rob had signed off many projects I will continue with.
I am glad you have projects to keep you busy, Joan. I find that being busy allows one to think without thinking - if you know what I mean...
Good luck with your projects.
Best way I cope is keeping busy with hands on tasks. Your home is looking great, such a lovely part of the world I envy those living in quiet towns.
Such a blessing having Bertus and his wife! Very satisfying getting renovations done, especially when you have someone who takes pride in their work. Nice job Fiona.
I hope we see what plans you have with the pew.
Indeed! And that he and The Husband had both much in common and a friendship, really helps.
The pet's getting a paint job....
Hope your sort and associated plans are going well.
Plans are moving slowly, which suits me just fine; gives me more time to sift through 50 years of stuff <3
And I'm sorting through so much, here, too! I feel for you. I have a deadline, though, so I'm in chaos!
