POV: When you're on your own, how far can you go?

in #life3 years ago (edited)

Ever felt like you're trying to fight life's battles alone? Well, you are not alone. In life, sometimes, the only moment that you will be able to feel the presence of the masses is during your victories. Sad but true.

Some of us are being surrounded by the many just during our triumphs. You're lucky if people will celebrate for you, but for some, envy is what is around. There are times that you really, badly need some help to support you, but they are nowhere to be found. Oftentimes, although they are around, you just can't feel them.

You are the type of person who really needs support from the ones dear to your heart, but you simply cannot force them to give you the assistance and attention you need. And because of this, you lose hope and you feel down because for you, doing things alone will get you nowhere.

This reality is inevitable. Even though this is true, you still need to move forward 'coz you can't get stuck. You should not be left behind and you have to make sure you got the checklist of what to do to be on the safe side.

But sometimes, we do not notice that it's not the ones we should do that will keep us motivated to continue facing life alone, but it's the things that we should stop doing so we will be free from the hindrance and baggage and we can freely move to take another step forward.

In this post, I will share with you 10 things you should stop doing to keep moving forward, even on your own.

1. Stop trying to please other people

You should stop living under other people’s expectations. We sometimes base our satisfaction from the satisfaction other people get from what we do.

Trying to please other people ruins the totality of your work for you always base the value of your outcomes with how good they perceive your outcomes are.

When you stop pleasing other people, you're able to follow your desire and you are able to bring the result you are aiming for.

2. Stop comparing yourself to other people

Do you know that you are unique? Do you know that even on your own, you can make it? We sometimes compare what we do with what others can. We can never be the same. Each of us is different in any possible way.

Comparing yourself with other people is limiting yourself from discovering what you are able of doing. Because you compare, the possibility of exploring your abilities is shut down because you are focused on the things you wish you could do.

When you stop comparing yourself with others, you are giving yourself a chance to accept what you truly can do, and because of it, you will be able to perform it effortlessly resulting to perfection of your own craft. Let them be good at one thing because on your own, you can be good at one too.

3. Stop Procrastinating

Being on your own is truly tiring and demotivating. This is in fact, sometimes, the reason why we put off doing things that should be done today.

For an instance, “I will never be able to finish it on my own today, so I'll move it to next time”. Sounds familiar? The thing is, when we procrastinate, things start piling-up and we start getting stuck. We sometimes put in our mind that we will not be able to fully accomplish it today so what's the sense?

Because you keep on delaying things repeatedly, days go by and you surely are never able to finish it, not even started.

When you stop procrastinating, you are able to accomplish things little by little, day by day, until you notice that you are ready for a new one.

4. Stop doubting yourself

You're facing life on your own and you start doubting yourself. What a good combination to fall, rock bottom. In life, the only person who should leave the crowd last is yourself. You should be your strongest supporter, your most solid fan, and your toughest ally.

If you doubt yourself, what makes you think you can go further? Believing in yourself and in what you can do is fueling the fire to keep it burning. Doubt is never an option.

When you stop doubting yourself and start believing that you can make it in every step of the way, you are giving yourself the freedom to fly. Fly so high that you will never be able to see those who never believed in you and never believed you could make it.

5. Stop running away from problems

Life is not always rosy. Especially when you're facing life alone, you are most likely to face trials on your own. Running away from those trials simply won't solve any of those.

When you face a problem and are able to find solutions for it, you are becoming a better version of yourself. Better than you were the day before. Better, stronger, and wiser.

When you stop running away from your problems, you stop immaturity from devouring you. You're becoming more experienced when it comes to dealing with issues that may come your way moving forward.

6. Stop being crowded by expectation

Expectation is the main source of disappointment. Being crowded by it is even worse. When you are blinded by your own expectations of anything, you are being taken away from the possibilities that something wrong might happen or might meet you along the way. Result? You are not prepared to face and solve whatever issue it may be.

Balancing your own expectation and your expectation of possible problems is not being negative. This is keeping yourself aware that not all things resulting to success has a smooth journey.

When you stop being crowded by expectations, you start being in the know of what can happen which may result to you becoming more prepared to face all the struggles, leading you to your end destination, accomplishment.

7. Stop limiting yourself

When you limit yourself, how far can you go? Answer is, not far enough. “Far” is not even valid to be used to describe the distance you can take.

This is because you are putting yourself in a box where you cannot freely move, where you cannot explore, and where you cannot see the greatness of your surroundings, discover new things , and enhance your talents and skills.

When you stop limiting yourself, you are allowing new dreams and new goals to be brought to life. Never think twice to try something new. What you can do and who you are right now are not yet the whole of you. There's something more, so break free.

8. Stop blaming others for the results in your life

It's not easy to say not to blame others when who surround you affect what and who you are. But the truth is, in front of these confounding variables is you. The pilot of your own plane and the captain of your own ship.

Yes, people contribute to your decisions in life and yes, they contribute to your current situation but the one who has the full control is you. You are the driver and no matter how many passengers dictate you of the right track to take, you know your road and you know the right path to your destination.

When you stop blaming others for the results in your life, you are honing yourself not to become flawless but to become more responsible and prepared for life’s flaws.

9. Stop being too hard on yourself

Being a perfectionist, I used to feel bad when things didn't go my way, especially when I knew that I got full control of its execution.

There's nothing wrong with being a perfectionist. What's wrong is hating yourself because of being not perfect.

What I realized is that even the best fall down sometimes and what I need to do is give myself a pat on the back and say “it's okay, self. We’ll try again and we’ll be better next time”.

Learn from your mistakes and shortcomings and give the world an epic comeback.

10. Stop being ungrateful

Have you ever asked the “Why” question? Why am I alone? Why do they not support me? Why me? The answer is, Why not? When the world turned its back on you along with its people, do you see it as a punishment? Or an opportunity to show them that you can make it on your own?

When you are grateful of everything you encounter, good or bad, you are being given the chance to realize that good things are not always found from good things. There is also goodness from the bad. Be grateful of struggles. Golds are not found from the goodness of the surface but through the struggles underneath.

You'll never know what prize life has for you unless you take your path alone and see it yourself. You can never expect people to join you all the time because they also have their own paths to take. Never be afraid and never think twice to face life on your own. At the end of your journey, you'll surely be proud of yourself.

Just remember, do not limit yourself and say…
“On my own, I'm only up to this distance”

but ask yourself…

“On my own, how far can I go?”
