We live in a big wooden house in a small town with a wonderful view of the ocean. The house has a strong solid foundation and even though we have to do some upkeep, the house is in a good condition and we live here happily without any issues.
The biggest problem we have is a shortage of water, but hopefully soon this will be sorted and the water issues will be a thing of the past.
The main reason why this specific house is still standing, is because of the foundation. The foundation is extremely strong and we have big retainer walls that protects the house from flooding. This is very necessary in our area as we have a high rainfall straight through the year and floods do occur.
Foundations in life are also very important. A house will not stay standing if it has a crumbling foundation. The same is true about your connection with God. If you don't have a strong believe system, your own house (your life) might just fall apart.
It is necessary to become still and connect with a higher power on a daily basis. Most of us grew up in church and have our own belief system, but somewhere life starts to get in the way and we prioritize the wrong things. Sometimes we totally go off track, but we always have that connection in the back of our minds because of a good foundation.
Whatever happens on this earth is not important. Sometimes we just have to sit with intention and listen with no need to hear at all. You may be amazed by what you find.
What a nice house. 😍Hope I can find something like that when I'm going to buy a house later.
Very wise words. We should never underestimate how strong foundations can help us to grow!
Cheers!
Hey @lemouth long time no see! Hope you are well. When are you visiting South Africa again?
Yes it has indeed been a while I didn't travel to South Africa. COVID has messed up a lot my travel plans during the last two years, as can easily be imagined. My colleague in Johannesburg, with whom I still work actively (and who is now full professor at U. Johannesburg) visited me several times in France, and I will see how I can manage to pay him a visit in 2023. This obviously depends a lot on travel money (which is now an issue as most grants evaporated during COVID). We will see (I am however optimistic).
How are you by the way? Is everything al right?
@lemouth Covid messed up everything! My father passed away just before Covid. My husband lost his job but thankfully we recovered nicely and he now has a new post at a new company. My brother and Naomi on the other hand is struggling tremendously to get back on track. We help out where we can but it's not always possible. Life is tough for them at the moment but we hope and pray all will come right soon!! He is really struggling with a permanent income although he is working day and night. It will be good to see you when you come to South Africa. You should bring your family. I will be moving soon to where my husband works so my house will be empty and you are welcome to come and stay here. xx
Wow, what sad news! I am speechless. Really. I am thinking about all of you and I hope life will go back to normal as soon as possible.
I will definitely pass by during my next trip to SA. Details are however very unclear at the moment. I hope for 2023, at least alone, but nothing is however guaranteed. I will keep everyone updated when the situation will become clearer (I have applied last June for a joint SA-France bi-national grant. Let's cross fingers.
