Beetroot is not commonly cultivated here in the Philippines, because I believe it cannot stand the harsh tropical sun. However, it grows in the more temperate regions in the country up north. So, from time to time, we get some beetroots in our local market, but it is very, very rare instances.
I think in my five-year stay here (after I gave birth), I only encountered beetroot once in our local market. So we grabbed it at once! It's a rare find! Hahaha! 😂 It cost higher than the common veggies we have here, but that's OK. We cannot eat our money. Hahaha! 😂🙄
Beets are great for salads. It does not only add such a stunning flavor to salads but enrich its visual punch as well! I love colorful salads. So whenever we have beets, we make sure to include it in our salad. It is normally a combination of greens--cucumber, lettuce, and all--and orange (carrots), purple (diced onions) and the magical beetroots, that escalates its appeal! 😍
I also mix beetroots to sandwich fillings. Sliced beets combined with onions and some pickles are a great addition to ham and cheese sandwich!!! Oh, just thinking of it makes me long for beetroots. Sadly, we don't see one in the market now.

STOPI never thought of beetroot been not able to get in places where you stay here in Australia we have beetroot everywhere and i love it i mix it with neatly everything i eat well almost :))

I wonder which flavor your beets have. We only see them rarely. I think soon they are part of the "forgotten vegetables". If they are in a pot and sour. I have two in my cupboard. I might try to feed some on a sandwich to the bus-kid instead of pickles.

Thank you Kitty for the tip. Our beets are somewhat bland, maybe because it came from the far north of the country. But I love its color when blended with greens!
But a friend from Australia said that he never thought that beets are hard to get here because it is everywhere in their place, and they use it in almost everything. Hehehe. 😊 So I guess, it all depends on which part of the world you are in. Hehehe. 😊

Hi my friend. I guess it grows here but people do hardly eat it anylonger. I did as a kid but these days it's fast food l, many no longer cook or even don't know how to prepare it. Fast food and chemicals taste better and with a lot of tomato ketchup it looks colorful too, the chemicals do the rest.
I am doing a bit better again but need a bit more rest. It will all work out fine.
