My birth story of life...

in #life6 years ago (edited)

There came a day 6th of the 10th month, in the year 198......,in the family of mr uchendu geoffery ugbor, after a long wait for male child... You know in igbo land male child is a greater priority because they believe that female children will get married out while the male child or children will always remain in their father's compound to bear more offspring, so this belief have always made every family to struggle in the journey that they must have a male child.. In my family the first child came as a female, and as I was told every one was happy and her birth was celebrated and she was named onyinyechi meaning Gift from God...
The second child also came as a female and she was named kelechi meaning Thank God.... The third child came they were extremely happy and they named her ugoeze meaning the king's pride... Three years later the fourth child was conceived and every body have believed that the child is a baby boy, they went ahead and kept buying male baby things and my mother keep hoping and praying that she is finally going to have a male child, the long awaited labour came and it was so painful, the doctors said the baby in the womb was too big and cannot be born through normal delivery, that surgery was going to take place but the mother of the child had Faith and believed that the pregnancy was not her first but her fourth, therefore she will equally put to birth through normal delivery the same way she delivered her previous children....
On this fateful day being October 6th, after a long labour, around 10pm at night, there came another bouncing baby girl... Lol... And everyone was not happy except the mother of the child, She was happy because of the fact that she could put to birth safely but she looked around her and every other person was sad... Later the news of her child safe delivery got to her husband whom travelled out of the city few months back in search for a greener pasture before her labour begun... He was happy at hearing the news that same night so he journeyed back home...
On his way coming back from his trip, he went straight to the hospital with joy in his heart and so much excitement to meet with his wife and his new born baby, and that point he was not even aware of the child's gender.... He finally arrived the hospital the next day after a long journey, at the hospital entrance while he was trying to walk into the hospital a family member stopped him and the person said to him my dear brother stop this excitement of yours it is not what you think, he paused in surprise then he said to that person hope all is well? In response the person answered him then go in there and see for yourself...
He remained focus and courageous and walked through, by the door entering the ward where his wife and new born baby were kept, there came an older woman whom started weeping at the sight him obstructing the door and was pleading with him not to into the ward to see the mother and the baby... The old woman kept shedding tears and she kept telling him "Geo please don't be angry, please take heart, be calm and accept your fate mean while the woman saying all these things is his own mother, the man was confused lots of thoughts were running through his mind, he was in distress, he felt he has lost both mother and child, then was like mama why are you crying tell me what the problem is, he asked with anxiousness, he said is my wife dead and his mother said no, he asked is the baby dead and his mother said no, then he got more anxious and had to end the drama by asking his mother for the last time what the matter was before he lose his temper and the old woman finally said, it's nothing but its just that your wife delivered another girl.... The father of the child has to make way for himself and rushed into the ward, he carried the baby hugged the wife and also gathered all his family members within the hospital and he said to them a child is a child be it male or female, they are both gift from the creator therefore live up to your responsibilities and appreciate any gender you have got and give glory to God... At that point he named his child Glory meaning honour, fame and beauty giving to somebody for achieving something important,... And his wife named the child Onyedikachi which means " there is no body like God and then the grandmother named the child OKwuchi meaning the gospel, sermon or the word of God,the grandfather named her Nnenkem meaning my own mother... That was how everyone left the hospital peacefully...
And that child is me, your co steemian and after my birth, the male children came forth..... Today 6th October is a very good memorable day for me, it's a day that i always look forward to see and it here again today, I am not only a year older but also a year greater.... Join me steemians to celebrate my birthday... Happy birthday to meeeeeeee... Happy birthday to Glorykelly....
