As some of you may know Wheels got his new chair about a month ago.
Great stuff surely?
Well yes and no.
The chair is wider which has stopped his hips rubbing on the wheels which is brilliant as it has stopped the sensitivity he was experiencing. Bad news, the large back wheels have been set up wrong so it tips very easily.
Wheels is no stranger to adjusting his chair but the fixed frame cannot be adjusted. This means all the tweaking he has tried the big wheels cannot go any further back. They need to go further back to solve the problem. So the problem cannot be solved .
I was at work when I get sent this.
Its not a very clear image, but that is Wheels on the floor. His wheelchair tipped him out onto the floor. It happened too quickly for him to catch himself . He is used to leaning and moving around quite a lot, as all active users tend to. In his old chair he used to balance on two wheels easily.
Clearly this chair is not as easy to use and keeps trying to chuck Wheels out of it. This could wreck his hips.
It scares me because what if something happens like this again whilst I'm at work and he does damage himself ?
He was lucky this time.
He only trapped a finger.
