Remembering Lionfish fishing with my cousins @ Marseille-2017 and @ alfredv88.
We agreed to enjoy a dive on a coast called Tiguitigui, we boarded from the dry valley town, we squared with the boatman to take us and return in approximately 50 minutes which was what hard the dive.
My cousin @ Marseille-2017 was our guide since he is the experienced professional diver. Our goal was to fish the Lionfish and at the same time enjoy the magical aquatic world, for me it was impressive since first time under 30 meters of depth, bone 3 atmosphere, it is great to see different fishes and corals many of them called the tail of nasty.
My cousin @ marseille-2017 went forward with the harpoon harpoon and we in search of lionfish. The video that I leave you will appreciate the capture of some of these peses and how to cut the poisonous spines to be able to catch it without mishap. We were able to fish one that measured 48 cm and these fish are medium size fish, from the 6 centimeters of the smallest of the genus to 42 cm, I was a big fish that we could find.
As you can see, we measured it and exactly measured 48 cm in length.
Why catch the Lionfish?
As outlined in a previous post, this fish is extremely poisonous, this "little fish" from the Western Pacific Ocean, has become the largest predator of the Caribbean Sea, destroying everything in its path, thus giving a serious blow to the marine ecosystem. With a reproduction rate that surpasses that of rabbits and without any known enemy, it is currently the main ecological problem of the Caribbean basin.
Can you eat the Lionfish?
Of course, we only have to cut the spines of the fins and dorsal where the poison is concentrated. We baked it and it was delicious, I had never eaten it and I loved it. Pity that very little is seen in fishmongers because the vast majority think it is not edible.
