Two days ago, I had my appointment with my specialist regarding the impending removal of my wisdom teeth on the left hand side of my mouth.
My surgery is now scheduled for the 24th of July, when, inevitably, a highly trained anaesthesiology professional will leap from the shadows, blow dart in hand, and remove me, briefly; from the conscious world.
I'll awake with numbness, I'm told, on the left hand side of my mouth, and a gauze of cotton to absorb whatever fluid and red, liquid matter the stitches are unable to hold back.
My recovery will begin almost immediately, and eventually, the third day will come and I'll be in the "worst" of it; so I'm told.
I paid About $1500 for the privilege of seeing the specialist and pre-paying surgical costs, with the extra funds for the hospital fees and blow-dart wielding servant of Hypnos.
In essence, from the time of writing this, I have about ten days to get my leavings in order. I suggest you all do the same, so if you've ever wanted to say anything to me; should I not make it through the surgery; now is the time to do so. :P
As a result of this surgery, it is unlikely that I will be able to complete my Splinterlands TV stream on the 24th of July, and I am electing to not have a replacement for this slot. I will see how I am feeling for the subsequent slot on the 27th; but expect to also not see a weekly Dungeon Siege / gaming with Krystal upload during this time.
I'll be taking some time off my day job in order to recover; and I plan on playing as many video games as I can tolerate while enjoying an acute, painful existence for a week or more as my face swells and the shards of tooth are placed in the bottom of some medical waste facility.
The surgeon has assured me the outcome will be rather easy and there's very little risk of complications, but I should be fine.
Still, now would be a wonderful time for you to share your affections and any grievances, lest you not get a future opportunity in the highly unlikely event that I perish.
Much love to my blockchain buddies,
holoz0r
Until next time...

Yeah... ouch! Its sure not inside the "pleasure zone". Believe me, I know what I'm talking about. I had ALL teeth pulled when I was about 50. Trust me, you dont want to do that twice. Fortunatly, it can only be done once.
The only good aspect - compared with your situation - was, that I didn't have to pay for that myself. Only later, for the dentures, I had to participate in the cost of making those with about AUS$ 1000.
Those are the benefits of the German public health system. All neccessary medical treatment is basically free. But of course there is the downside that everybody who is employed is paying into the health service - and not little.
Same thing here, its basically a 2% levy on top of additional tax, but for some reason no dental work is covered under the public health system.
Mine isn't strictly "necessary", but if it isn't done then it will become an even worse problem later.
Perhaps if I believe pleasure is pain, this will be the highest level of pleasure I ever experience.
Well, as I said, they pay things that are medically neccessary. And dental problems are medically relevant - very relevant even. A whole plethora of illnesses can origin from dental issues.
At the end of the day, its depending on the doctor/dentist statement if something is deemed "medically neccessary" or not. If its confirmed, all treatment is covered by the health service, also dental surgery and whatever else. Only prothesis is only covered partially. And depending on what type of prothesis you want, that can cost you a fortune.
About the pain... its not the worst possible pain, I guess. The weird thing is, you usually dont feel much pain during the treatment - it sets in when you are back home and the anestetic wears off. But they will probably give you some pain killer for that.
Oh and a tip: get something ready that you can eat without chewing, like soup or jello or pudding. But not acidic and to eat cold, to avoid bleeding.
Yeah, I have ice cubes galore in the freezer, and soup cans - mushroom, pumpkin, neutral stuff.
I will probably subsist on fluids - protein shakes and soups and the like, for the most part, until I can feel brave enough to chew again.
Got a bag of salt for warm water salt rinses, and well, I think that is about as prepared as I am, as well as the specialist mouthwash they gave me. I'll be fine. Just a journey into the unknown.
That's expensive way to get rid of it a part of your body! Scandalous!
Does price depend from weight of body part removed? What happens when you have to remove foot or something? Does it cost millions?
I do not take into account the possibility that there may be any complications. No, they will be no such thing. Period.
You have to go there, get rid of that stupid tooth and come back safe and sound. I do not consider any other option. Let me rephrase this. You have no other option!
I respect you, so I must endure and survive. In tonight's Splinterlands stream replay upload, that will go live in several hours, you'll see me gush over the illustration you sent. It's still flattening out, and I've got a frame, which I'll put it into in the coming days.
Then I'll finally see if I can get around to that "art in the house" post, that I promised so long ago.
Hold on to life with the strength of the jaws of the Tasmanian devil!
I can't wait! Will put it on while working. Still haven't finished the Dungeon Siege series though. But I'm very happy with the queue of good things to listen to:)
No rush at all. I am glad it came in one piece. It is after all looong way!
We keep recording those Dungeon Siege things! We just finished streaming the I don't remember what episode number we're up to on Twitch.
I just love it! When I first came across game streaming I though it is mad, really. But now I am avid fan of them, not all of course. Some are just boring as boring people can be.
I like when groups of people chat about stuff, like movies and such. Not interview kind of manner, no, just a little chat.
I would be to scared to be a part of conversation, so I really appreciate that there are people willing to put their thoughts out there, on record, so I can enjoy it!
Our thoughts aren't all that valuable. There's a distinct lack of demand, and plenty of supply :)
Not every one needs a podcast, but you (and the world) clearly need mine! :P
Don't mind people. They don't know what they want after all.
I need it!
I hope, that when you wake up from the anaesthesia, that you find yourself back in our world without much change in life.
It would be awful if you went under and you came back to a world where people were rioting over food, you had no job. I fiery, but mostly peaceful protest was going down... you know, Mad Max
The post anaesthesia world you describe is almost the world we live in today. Almost. Won't take much more.
I'll do it for $1200.
No deal
$500, but I record it for youtube and we split the revenue 50:50. Final offer.
