The hustle of employment and unemployment

in #life6 years ago

Most young people leave the university thinking, "I'll graduate, get a good job, buy a car, start a business, get married and possibly abandon my job for self employment. this should all be covered within ten years" Oops! I've got news for you. Boys and girls hurdle up because you ought to hear this.

It doesn't work like that

First of all you might take too long to get a job. A year or even two might elapse. In this time you might decide to go home where you might get comfortable under your parents' roof and forget about your struggles.

Two. If you're lucky you might get a job but a weak one. Probably with an Indian boss that works you like a donkey and pays you peanuts. But you're there for the experience that'll propel you further up. Your pay can cover basic needs and maybe you can save a little. But then your entitled immediate family and girlfriend will swoop in and take away all those savings. I mean, you're working now so they expect you to have money. Like a truckload of it and have nothing to do with it. But no. You don't. You're still struggling to make it and build yourself. You could work five years and have nothing to show for it. Sad, right? You know what's even more annoying? When the same family members that swooped away your savings start bullying you and lecturing you about going for further studies and starting up a business? You have a point and I wish I could do that too but with what money? If only you could let me keep my savings... Por favor

Oohh and then they'll start asking you about your wife or husband... I mean...

"Could you please just leave me alone? Please! Thank you"

You want to know why there is an increase in suicides among young people in Uganda? It's the depression. The depression due to failure to find decent employment. The youth capital of the world with 78% of the population being below 35 years has 3% of this just sitting at home unemployed while the country is run by geezers. Even the ones who seem to be employed are not satisfied. How do you pay a whole university graduate with mere basic needs as salary? What else does the depression cause? Drug use to numb the brain and alcohol is the greatest drug in this case. You think people go to bars because they're happy day in day out? Well, some are. Some just want to forget about their miserable lives for a few hours

Some people perhaps love alcohol too much despite having it all but i believe most people we despise as alcoholics are simply depressed souls filled with despair. I blame capitalism.

If this is in any way a consolation please take it as such. The rich man can't sleep either because he's constantly worried about his establishments. Getting up there is the easy part but staying there is hardest. You snooze a little and employees run your business into the ground. Therefore...

If you want something done right you always have to do it yourself

And then you wonder what all the fuss is about money if i can't get some thorough sleep either way. Because sleep is everything. It's the energy source. It rejuvenates the body and soul. It replenishes your chakras. Just make enough money. Just enough and leave room for peace and happiness. Sleep is peace and hapiness. Period.
