We Do Not Negate the Reality, But Believe the Truth Beyond Our Eyes Could See

in #life4 years ago (edited)

How have we been affected by the illness so unfamiliar to our ears? Well, I don’t mind wearing a mask to keep myself from inhaling dust, but I mind that much when for a couple of days my student and I are all on our masks. We are protecting ourselves from each other. Do I have to state the obvious?

My classroom is like the hospital nearby (imagine.). Additionally, to have a number of students absent in class is no longer surprising. It has become part of a daily expectation. What is surprising though is when all of the students are present.

I absolutely understand that ceasing kids to attend classes is parents' way to keep their sons and daughters to a place where they are sheltered in safety. Besides, they are the parents and a day at school is a risk they do not what to take for granted. Moreover, students are missing a lot because of the suspension of classes. I mean, we are missing a lot of meaningful learning and interactions.

As I stood before my students who still opted to attend classes, I couldn't help but look at each of them in the eye as they utter their “DAILY AFFIRMATION”.

I AM LOVED BY GOD.
GOD HAS GREAT PLANS FOR MY LIFE.
I CAN DO ALL THINGS THRU CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME.
I DO NOT FEAR BECAUSE I HAVE FAITH.

I looked at them and couldn't help but to ask everyone to close his/her eyes for prayer. Deep down it occurred on me the brevity of life given to each one. I always remind my class and myself too, “Do it now before it is too late.”

We prayed - it is more than getting high scores to be on top, yes more than understanding the lessons, and definitely more than getting all the missed lessons done. We prayed for salvation from all the worries, from all the fear that is intensely crippling the peace of mind of each one. After praying, I asked them, “Who among you believes that this virus will be gone very soon?”Without any second thoughts, they all raised their hands with so much hope painted on their faces and light obviously seen in their eyes.

I won’t be seeing them in class for an uncertain number of days because schools are closed as announced by the government authority of the country. We might have classes online. Obviously, it is possible I would say. (Meeting is scheduled to continually get hold of our kids.) That is one of the ways we keep things going.

All in all, everyone is affected to different degrees, as a matter of fact, it is a global issue we all face. In my classroom, we have chosen to speak our “DAILY AFFIRMATION”, to magnify of our faith that sooner we will witness the answer of our prayers by the God who knows better what is going on worldwide, especially the condition of the heart of each man for such a time as this.

Here is a gentle whisper that we ought to listen to. It is a whisper of love and peace for those who trust and whose faith unshaken.
