Why Sleep?

The question "why Sleep" has been the most asked question concerning sleep. People do question why they have to sleep, why they need to sleep and how long they have to sleep. Below are few reasons why we need consider sleep as an important activity to be carried out.

  • reduce over working the body system which could lead to high blood pressure, stroke, heart attack/failure, constant headache, e.t.c
  • Increase healthy living.
  • reduce depression.

Sleeping at work:

This is a topic which remains unsolved worldwide. The number of people who sleep during duty/ work hours has been relatively alarming. That brings the question WHY and that gave rise to some solution approach.

why workers sleep during work hours? :

  • Too long work hours without break.
  • boring work.
  • Too long free time.
  • Stress due to previous day work.
  • Take home works..
  • Little or no adequate sleep and many more.

steps taken to tackle sleeping during working hours:

  • Spliting of the working hours into two half's and a break inbetween them.
  • allowing a bit of digression during long talks.
  • Creation of flexible working hours Jobs and many more not listed.

Why students sleep during studies?

It is know worldwide that students take it more like a sport to sleep during lectures, while reading and during free hours.
The below are reasons why students sleep

  • long hours of lectures.
  • boring lectures.
  • poor lecturing or teaching skills possessed by the lecturer or staff.
  • complex and repetitive works.

The below are ways sleeping has been tackled during learning.

  • introduction of breaks.
  • digression during long Lectures
  • equipping textbooks with little jokes concerning the topic.
  • cartooning approach.

Hazards of sleeping during work:

Let's look at this aspect critically. 8hours of sleep per day was recommended but it still doesn't mean we can all keep it up so let's go with 5hours for workers and students of higher institutions. Let's not forget that saying 8hours of sleep per day doesn't mean you can sleep on the job, it's totally wrong.
Below are the list of few hazards of sleeping on the job

  • You could be let behind
  • You wouldn't be relied on.
  • It could cause deface of the organization.
  • you could get sacked e.t.c.

Hint: Did you know 30minutes of deep sleep can keep you going all day.

It take seriousness, determination and commitment not to sleep.
