From this beautiful coloured photo, one can feel the goodness of these fresh fruits and vegetables coming out to greet us. Just by looking at them, you feel like going in to buy them as they looked like they are packed with all the goodness and must be healthy for us. Yes that's what this market wanted us to feel and compel to just walk in and purchase. At this stage price is not an issue, it is what these fruits and vegetables are going to do for our health.
They are so green and fresh looking, well displayed with a lot of care. That's my first impression. Even though slightly expensive from the Chinese grocery stall, I will option to buy them from this supermarket.

Now compare this with the previous photo. This is just a picture telling us and because it is just black and white, no impact to anyone looking at it.

This same photo as the first brings out the freshness, look at the closed up broccoli and tomatoes. They are just looking so so fresh and inviting. They are as if asking us to go and pick them up and consume them. So the way they are being displayed and put next to each other stands out and it makes the contrast to attract customers.

Again this photo is a simple Black and White poster to advertise without vivid colours or pictures.

This photo is showing 2 lovely decorated Macarons. Instead of the usual standard coloured Macarons, this bakery has decorated them and given out as a pair for their customers to enjoy. They are specially done for a shopping mall to reward their customers for spending $50.00 in any outlets within the Mall and to claim while stocks last. Clever of the Mall to encourage shoppers to shop and help to improve the revenue for their tenants within the Mall.
I believed the bakery is one of their tenants and special price and special design for the Mall. A good way to market their products and bakery skills.

Don't you find this pair of 'Pau' cute and loving. Many stopped and take a second look and most ended up buying to try them. Children begged their parents to buy as they looked so cute and adorable. Now whether they are tasty or nice, they got sold based on appearance and again packaging. Even adults stopped to ask what's the flavours and what's the price. As these are relatively not expensive, most will buy home to show their kids or family. A relatively 'cheap' ingredients can generate a lot of sales and revenue. It is just flour and the filings are chocolates, pandan flavour, red bean paste and some are custards. Nothing extra ordinary or expensive ingredients just that the outside appearance is attracting customers to take another look.

Another clever bakery that designed 'Superman' and other cartoon on top of a coloured layer sponge cake, covered with colourful sweet and a die-cut cartoon LOGO on top. The multi colour attracts children to stop and admire and as usual will pressure their parents to buy. Not cheap but for those that can afford will buy one just to appease the child to keep peace and not make a scene. Of course some parents will not give way and try to compromise the child. I stood and watch for 10 minutes, just to see how many bought. Well without any efforts from the sales person, 2 of the 8 that stopped bought. Different designs from the 2 that bought. 1 went inside to look at other designs and bread, not sure what's the outcome. The others left after talking to their children, maybe explaining too expensive or promise them some other stuff. Not a bad conversion rate without any efforts by sales.

These peanuts was served on a paper based designed 'sailing boat' instead of being on a normal plate. It took away the monotonous and creativity comes in as well. These were served in a Chinese Restaurant as snacks before the food were served. As there is waiting time for cooking, and these snacks whether is peanuts or pickles or prawn crackers will be served. Some restaurants reserve these revenues from these snacks, wet towels and tea as tips to the staff working inside the restaurants.
I guess since the peanuts are charged based on per plate, using this attractive boat to serve will limit the amount and if the customer wants more, can charge another plate.

You have seen some innovative ways of how sellers can use packaging and display to increase buyer's senses to purchase.

Hope you like this post. Thanks for reading and supporting.

Great observations, an overflowing colourful bounty is sooo much more appealing than one that looks ravaged, regardless of the product. It’s funny sometimes I spot the laziness of shelf stacking when you take an item off the shelf and behind it is a huge gap, then more of the product at the back of the shelf. Makes me laugh every time.
