Which is scarier, the Internet or the real world?

The internet whispers about the deep web - the dark, mysterious place where the depravity of society is able to hide. They talk about the terrible things that hide deep below the eyes of Google.

There are people selling that?
You have got to be kidding!

No Virginia, we are not. While you were living in your bubble, a world was existing outside of you.

When I was a child I grew up among poverty. Not in it- next to it... and it has always floored me how people manage to turn a blind eye to what is going on right outside their doors. How can you walk through a town of poverty only to reach your summer resort, shutting the door on the world?

The internet is no different. The world has willingly gone behind their gates. They hide behind social media platforms, interacting with the internet via filters of their friends and advertisers. They hide behind search engines, giving up anonymity for the promise of convenience.

Is this a problem? Who knows. Seems like not seeing what's right in front of you might bite you in the ass someday =P

Maybe we demonize the internet because we aren't ready to face ourselves.

Someone stumbled into their resorts and reminded them that a world exists outside of their internet bubble. Maybe we'll wake up and consider what other things we might be selectively ignoring .
