Make sure you have a NOT ToDo List

Are you taking the time to determine what NOT to do?

Most of us are aware of “The Pareto Principal’ or ‘The 08/20 Rule’ which basically states that 80% of the results come from only 20% of the inputs/actions.

However, many people misunderstand that this does NOT mean that you still have to do 100% of the actions.

To truly become EFFECTIVE and maximize this principal, you have to take the time and put in the effort to determine WHAT 20% of the actions created the 80% benefit AND THEN STOP DOING THE OTHER 80%.

That’s right. STOP doing the other things. Focus on ONLY those things that you have determined created the 80% benefit.
As Tim Ferris (author of “The 4-hour Workweek”) says, create a NOT TO DO list.

This takes work. It is not always clear and will require dedicated effort. Many times, you will not know and have to set up additional measurement to really find out.

Many people fail to do this and continue to be ‘busy’ with things just because they are unwilling to do the work. It is amazing how we will cling to things that keep us ‘busy’ rather than be willing to sop doing things that keep us from being EFFECTIVE.

Are you BUSY or EFFECTIVE?

Do you, on a regular basis, take the time to analyze why you are doing certain activities?

Are you willing to focus on doing ONLY those things that result in the 80% benefit?

Try NOT doing some things that are not contributing to the 80%. It will be harder than you expect but well worth the resulting effectiveness and improvement in your life and business.

As always,
Be blessed and StayOnTheRise!

An interesting piece of information. I enjoyed reading it, it is very educative and informative.

Addicts or some poor habits that make our results become delayed have to be gotten ride off. Procrastination is a universal problem but only those with determination to excel leave their comfort zone and make effective plans. Effective plans are likely their NOT to do lists because it will take them off their comfort zone to an eventual success in the future.

Live on! Remain determined to succeed!

Thanks! It's easy to focus on what we think we SHOULD do. Much harder (but more important), however, to get rid of things we should not do. :-)

Great reminder @jtmac that I need to be more purposeful in my actions. I believe I am beginning an active phase and need to focus!

This is a practice that you need to build into your lifestyle habits. When paired with committing to just a couple of "action on Goals" activities each day. your momemtum and forward progress can really take off! :-)
