The phrase "the patient dog eats the fattest bone" has been in use for as far as I can remember.
Along the centuries it has lost it's meaning and no longer holds water.
Before, people worked hard and stayed back waiting for the result of their labour. It worked, all the time I must say.
Come down to this century, the reverse is the case.
Check out these scenarios;
In work places;
Someone works he's ass out ahead if that promotion promised months ago. Regardless of that, he has always been diligent and serious with his work course he knows how long it took him to get it. He comes back late at night after being held back by a huge pile of files he had to complete and file in to avoid his boss bossing out on him,and goes back to work very early the next morning as usual, sometimes without proper breakfast.
Finally, the promotion day. Oops! He's boss's rude lazy and careless nephew has actually been the one promoted. While he, was waiting patiently working himself to death for the so called promotion.
These days, as government will rather waste money on irresponsible projects than to pay workers, people now collect bribe before service at their work places. While some honest ones will rather starve, waiting in vain for government to pay up .
In schools;
Students don't waste their energy reading when there is another means to getting good grades. The few students that still believe things have not changed will rather burn midnight candles reading their brains off and at the end of the day, the end up being the ones with a poor grade.
The judiciary;
What about that young girl of 14yrs. Raped by his Master's son. When the case was dragged to court. After much adjournment and all, the judge perverted justice and sent the boy home innocent. This was based on the fact that the girls poor parents couldn't bribe the judge like the boys rich family had done. Rather the waited for justice to take it's course.
These are just a few out of the many places this happens.
Honest people are being dragged on the mud while dishonest ones excel in all ramification.
If you are patient,you get nothing at all in the end. Patience is no longer a virtue but a curse word.
If patience is your watchword then you are still far behind. You have to get up, drop that word and get into the world and be what it wants, "impatient ".
So right now, the big question is. "Does the patient dog still eat the fattest bone"?
