New Chillies, Layers and Rice Field

in #life11 months ago

I finally got over the flu I had after nursing it for a few days, and now I feel much better and at my full strength again. Even though I wasn't feeling well on those days, I still managed to work and get things done, like getting a new batch of fresh chillies to dry, buying new layer hens and a rooster, and planting new chilli plants on our farm. Also, the rice seeds on our farm have sprouted, and it looks really good because the rice seeds sprouted evenly on the field.

New Chillies for Drying

We got another batch of fresh chilies from the farmers. These new chillies will be dried in the sun for 8–9 days. In just two days, I've already bought 1200 kilograms of fresh chili. This has already reached our capacity, and we need to wait to dry these fresh chillies first before we buy again.

New Chili Plants

We're not just buying, drying, and trading chillies; we also plant this highly valued plant. After sowing seeds for 30 days, young chili plants were transferred to the field. With the right care and management, this plant is expected to bear new chillies in 3 months.

New Rooster and Layers

Yesterday, we hit the road and went to the seller's place. After we negotiated on the phone, we agreed to the price and went there to pick up the chickens. We bought 40 pieces of Dekalb Brown and 6 pieces of black Austrolop. I also bought one black Austrolop rooster. Based on my experience, these two breeds of chicken give the most eggs per year. The best part of having these layers is that they are heavy foragers that eat grass and everything they like on the field. In this way, the expenses for their food were greatly minimized.

Rainy Season, New Rice

Every year, the month of June or July marks the start of rice farming. This year's rain came early, so we started the preparation in the field last week. After it was all done, new rice plants were already covering our rice fields. This will produce rice after 110 days.

Finally, tomorrow is Sunday, and the plan is to have a rest all day after those hectic days. Just chill and relax; plan for next week.

Happy weekend!
