Why Rest Is Important?

in #life2 years ago

I have always been productive. I love to do things with my time, but recently I acknowledged the pure power of resting and why it's important for productivity…

The toxic hustle trail

We always hear about people telling us that in order for us to be successful we always need to hustle, to do something while never actually resting for even a minute. This builds up a toxic society where the most important thing is to always be moving and doing something but never enjoying the moment as it is. It tries to teach us that in order for us to be successful we need to never stop working. Which can accumulate in emotional, physical, and spiritual baggage that builds up over time because we never release the pressure we are putting on ourselves every day.

Resting is a part of being productive

If you are being productive every day, there will come a day where you cannot do anything because of the pure pressure you are always on. If you just take some time off every day to release that pressure you have a higher chance of sustaining a productive lifestyle and building a better future. Over time, if you are not releasing your pressure, you will build more of it until one day you cannot do anything for a couple of days, you will be burnout. Taking one day off ensures that you have more energy for the next day.

If you feel bad because you are never productive enough and you do more the next day, even though you felt burnout the day before, you are setting yourself for even more problems. It is not natural for us to be more productive the next day when we are feeling burnout. It is a toxic coping mechanism because you will not be able to give 100% of yourself the next day which sets you up for failure which psychologically tricks you to try being even more productive the day after. Then all of a sudden you feel empty and exhausted from everything because you have never let yourself rest.

Quality rest

Ensuring you have some quality rest is a must for your productivity. If you are always thinking about work even when you are on a vacation – you will never fully rest your mind. To have a quality rest you need to do something you enjoy which won’t stress you. You need to be present at the moment as to not allow the thoughts of the overwhelming work you have to do to cancel the resting process. Making the right habits for resting is crucial. Guaranteeing that you can be even more productive after it.

Think two days ahead

If you are feeling lazy and burnout today but you blame yourself and want to actually be more productive tomorrow – you will suffer the day after tomorrow, because of an even heavier burnout. To cancel that pattern just simply think two days ahead – if you rest for a day you will have more energy after that which ensures quality time put into your productive endeavors. Thinking a little bit ahead in the future will help you determine the best probable way for your growth.

Listen to your body

Most of the time our body indicates to us when we need to rest. We get headaches, muscle pains and etc. Our body simply is saying to us that something needs to change right now or the pain will grow stronger and we will have to stop nonetheless. If we acknowledge these signs and use them for creating more consistent coping habits – we can be as productive as possible without feeling the strain of stress.

Overall…

Incorporating quality rest into your routine can assure that your growth will come with as few as possible setbacks. Growth requires pain but it has to be in a manageable quantity for stable development. One of the crucial steps into developing your future is acknowledging that relaxation is a part of the whole process. Until next time – think about how you can incorporate this into your routine. Love and light to you all <3
