That's our family motto :) My younger sister agreed to go to the hospital only in an emergency situation. She's come to believe some of the doctors she had to see were quite nasty to her because they could read the disdain she has for them written on her face.
I've read some interesting studies on how the Nocebo effect can influence treatment outcomes, suggesting that negative thinking alone can make treatments less effective.
By my attitude I influence all outcomes!
