I took my Chinese Wife to Hooters (in China!) - Oops...

in #life7 years ago

Hey Laowinners!

I went to Shanghai for an expo or two, and I heard about a restaurant that was built inside of an actual airplane, inside of a mall...
Now this, I had to check out. I grabbed the gear (minus the Sony RX100 mk5 that my friend lost the night before), and headed to said mall.

Boy was it hot out. Shanghai had a record high of over 40 degrees C that day, and we were soaked in sweat.
When we got to the restaurant, we noticed that it wasn't on the directory at the mall, but instead of tucking our little tails between our legs and leaving, we noticed a familiar orange and white logo.

Now, Hooters is one of the last things that I thought I would see in China. What a bastion of American culture and capitalism. Something I feel like China is trying have less and less of these days.

I have this evil little habit to never explain anything to my wife before putting her on camera, as I always want her natural reaction, and this is the result.
Hope you guys enjoy!

The Chinese hooters girls are so much more innocent than the ones in the states or in Australia!

I think you will find that to be the case in general with a lot of Chinese people in comparison to Americans.

How are you getting onto steemit in China, It was on British news yesterday that China had blocked all the VPN's and were clamping down harder than ever ?

VPN's are NOT blocked (I'm using one now to access Facebook, YouTube, and Google) - neither is steemit

Follow me at alt text

its just what our news said yesterday, and they also mentioned that the government was going to try and find people who were using them too

There was a Chinese guy in Wuhan who got arrested. Since then, I haven't heard much new news. Will try and keep everyone up to date.

VPNs are not blocked YET. However, it might happen sooner or later. Thanks for the question!

Yeah, we are safe for now :)

hehe. never thought I'd feel nostalgia for hooters, but after 4 years in China...

Hello there from Taiwan! I'll upvote all your stuff if you follow and upvote my single post! I want Steem Coin!

There's been a hooters in Taipei for years. I love the Hulahoop show. The waitresses at hooters in the USA don't look as good in the uniforms as the TW women.
