Principles are guidelines of truth for living for the adult/ matured person....primarily.
Certainly in any training/teaching situation the objective is to train/ teach for a change in the person's thinking leading to behaviour change...........not the person's personality.
Learning to respect another's volition/ choice is key to understanding the principle for adults and children.
