Today I want to tell you about a phenomenon that has been happening for some time now in my country (Venezuela) but that I have seen it more accentuated since 6 months ago; and it is the desolation that is observed in the streets, they are totally empty!
Previously, Valencia was a very busy city at all times, with relatively heavy traffic especially at peak hours (7-9 a.m., 12-2 p.m., 5-7 p.m.) and there were even large numbers of people at bus stops or walking around the city.
However, as I mentioned, lately there is a very light traffic at any time of the day, and I could say that after 4 o'clock in the afternoon there are very few people in the streets, not to mention after 7 pm where it seems It was early morning.
That is the origin of my hypothesis; The mass exodus of Venezuelans to other regions of the world is no secret to anyone; but this has already been so marked that it has affected the current volume of people who are in the streets, increasing the affluence only in the respective hours of output of the work.
It is quite nostalgic and deeply sad to observe the emptiness of the streets of my city, to contemplate a deep silence where previously thousands of sounds were developed including conversations, laughter, imprudent students, buses competing for passengers, the bells of the ice cream makers, some street seller , store sellers, etc.
It is something that probably only understands who is living it, even to many it will seem silly; but it is something extremely discouraging.
I dream and hope that my country will once again be the country it once was and its streets will once again be full of its people, its idiosyncrasy, and we will have those noisy and cheerful streets to which we are accustomed .
