After all this time?

Always.

Sure, that's a quote from Snape expressing his unrequited love for Lily, but hey, it's true.

Friendship is when you go to a top school, and your friend goes to a not-as-elite one. You haven't met in eight years, but somehow still can manage to strike up a conversation like nothing ever changed.

When you have that one friend who's spoilt rich and refuses to touch anything dirty, or gross, or clean up the lab cuz it's hard, but has a dog that's probably her best friend. The dog everyone thought would be a “phase” but the one she's bathed everyday for the past four years. The dog that she walks everyday no matter how busy she is, and yes, she picks up its poop. I'm still in shock myself. I'm sure dogs count, but even if they don't that's friendship.

It's also when you can hate your friend for being everything you've never been- bubbly, enthusiastic, and somehow fun to be around. Yet, you've always enjoyed your time with her. After all that time wondering why you can't be like her, you still like her. Even after doing those “friendship-testing” group projects where tension runs high and everyone is screaming at their partners, you somehow come out unscathed. That's friendship.

After all that time, if they're still there for you, they're your friends.

Friendship means

  • Loveing you no matter how crazy, mad, stupid you are.
  • Irrespective of Religion, caste, colour, income, veg/nonveg they will stay with you.
  • Guide you to the correct path when you are wrong.
  • Make fun of you in friends group. If an outsider does that, they will break their nose. :p
  • Waking up at 5am to teach you. Because they know u didn't study. :p
  • Bringing an extra lunch box from home, just because you stay in hostel.
  • Stay by your side when your GF/BF break up with you. Help you to get over him/her.
  • They will drop you at gate and wait until you disappear just to make sure you reached home safely.
  • They accept you as you are. They love you irrespective of your looks. :)
  • They support you from your first love proposal to following you dream, passion.

“There’s no set definition of friendship, as it means several things to different people. However, most adults regard a friendship as based on we think alike on several issues. The definition of friendship varies with age e.g. a 4-year-old will call another child his friend because he lives next door!

It’s up to you to determine your qualifying criteria-and disqualifying criteria (dealbreakers) for a friendship. No-one can do that for you.

Cheers!”
