When I travel, I want to stay somewhere that is nicer than my own little apartment, somewhere with lots of natural light and good views, and walking distance to most places I want to visit. If I pay for that by myself, it’s going to be a 200€/night, at a minimum.
200€/night at a minimum is a bit steep if you are going to spend a lot of time traveling in addition to continuing to maintain an apartment in your home town to come back to when you're not traveling.
Your man would not only have to be a digital nomad but most likely a gentleman of leisure, too, because work and active travel can be surprisingly difficult to combine successfully. There is a guy on Steem who leads the digital nomad lifestyle with his wife and kids who also works for a living. I talked to him last summer but I'm not in the mood to scour through my old comments now.
Take anything with a grain of salt.
This sentence is key, I believe.
”Lähtisitkö silloin kanssani järvelle? Sulle sukeltaisin helmen valkeaaaaaaa-aaan!”
Kaverin sukeltaessa sitä helmeä voi keskittyä vaikka luonnon rauhasta nauttimiseen.
Yeah, exactly, and I don't want to give up my homebase.
I know that it's hard to find the balance of work and play while travelling, because that is what I have been doing now for a while. Maybe it would be easier if one had someone to share it with.
I think the last sentence should be in every and any of my posts because people have a tendency to overreact when half the time I exaggerate to make my point clearer and more fun.
I wasn't talking about your work life balance but that of your potential guy. His work might not be taking photos of you. Traveling with someone would probably make it more difficult because of all the schedule constraints and conflicts it would create.
I work from home and if I did not have a family, I could be a digital nomad. While I might be able pull it off alone, having a regular travel companion who required me to assist in her work 10 hours a day or so would be completely impossible.
