Off the beaten track, in the middle of almost nowhere, you will find the Wentzel Family that fell in love with the area and set their roots.
The olives are rich and heavenly!
A farm with extremely fertile soil, magical rivers running through it and some beautiful mountian views is Exdiem.
On my weekend away doing some wine tastings my friends and I happened down the path of this little farm. Most farms in this area are open to wine tastings of some sort, and we thought this farm was no different. . .
Turns out this is a private farm, though they sell their wines in markets and have a small tasting room for private buyers that they opened up just for us!

As you can see the tasting room is pretty small but I won't fool you!
The farm is over 40 hectares with more than 6500 olive trees planted since 2011!
After the owner's son told us almost the entire history of the farm,
we got on to tasting some fine olives and even some tapenade!

The farm is situated in Klaasvoogd West Valley in the
Robertson district and the air is sweet and fresh.
It is winter now in South Africa, so the air had a
good little nip too it but that day was stunning!
The best part of this tasting was how personal it was.
My take away is that sometimes it is ok to wander into someone else's yard.
Even the dog will most likely friendly!
