Back to work I go...

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Well here we are, tomorrow will be ten days removed from my surgery, and time to head back to the office tomorrow morning. I can't afford to be out of work, as not working now means having to work between Christmas and New Year... and that would suck.

So I'm getting myself ready to go back to the grind.

I have a desk job, so it isn't like I am building houses or anything. I can stay in my chair, not move around too much, and come home for lunch.

I do have to take some supplies with me so as to be ready for any eventuality.

Gauze pads - to cover the wounds and collect the blood that is still seeping from the sutures.
Pain Reliever - Just because I haven't taken it today, doesn't mean I won't need it.
Seat Cushion - Not a donut, apparently those are not good, so I bought a full seat memory foam cushion, hopefully it is decent...
Toilet Paper - Because the office two-ply ain't going to be good on the wounds.
Flushable wet wipes - same reason as above.

The concerns...

Part of this process is taking Stool Softeners and Fiber to make sure my bowel movements are soft and relatively easy to pass . Unfortunately, this also means that when the urge comes to go, it is time to go. Since a part of my job is taking and making phone calls. When in the middle of a phone call, I'm not going to be able to just jump up and go... This could be a big problem.

Sitting. Yeah, I've been sitting all week. But now I will be sitting in an office chair instead of on my comfy couch. My office chair has been with me for the entire seven years I have been working in my office. It was a hand me down then, and has only broken down more since. I've got the seat cushion, but I'm not incredibly confident in my ability to sit in that chair for 9 hours.

So we'll see how it goes. Can I make it a full day? How effectively can I work? Time will tell, baby steps back to a normal life right?
