We dodged a bullet a few weeks ago. All of us. Everyone. Anyone who has ever interacted with this blockchain and cares about the public image of this platform and the value of our tokens dodged a fucking bullet.
I'll take an educated guess and say roughly one million people who know nothing about this place or STEEM caught a glimpse of our trending page one day. Nobody here knew it would happen. Nobody could prepare.
Joe Rogan has roughly 2.3 million subscribers on Youtube and during one of his podcasts they mentioned Steemit. They had our trending page up there on the screen inside their studio. Everyone saw the first few posts, myself included. I'm quite confident saying one million people saw it or will see it because that video will still get views for many years.

Don't bother reminding me about how that's only there because of these irresponsibly fucked so-called wannabe advertising agency automated fucking robot vote junky fucking crack votes from hell. I already know that.
Don't say, "Oh, but they won't earn anything, they paid for those votes." I don't give a flying fuck about their losses. That's a loss for everyone if you actually knew how this reward pool system works. A $2897.64 loss for everyone.
There's no value behind these people arguing. That's worth nothing. I realize some of them mean well, but whatever, it looks bad, it makes us all look bad.
My previous ten jokes I wrote didn't earn anywhere near what those jokes are earning, but mine were at least fucking funny.

I said I was taking a break before, but I was back within hours because I love this place and I love what I do. I wrote that post the other day about how important you folks are to me and I meant it.

Up until this point, I have wholly appreciated your commentary on the issues that plague Steem.
On this particular issue, disagree with your stance @nonameslefttouse. It's as though many Steem users are experiencing the "bystander effect" (Someone else will take care of it. They don't need my help) or assume that outcome of this great struggle does not affect them.
I assure you that the outcome of this has DEEP implications towards the very future of the platform.
Many of us are trying to establish a precedent as to what we will not tolerate on this platform for those that engage in collusive and other forms of reward manipulation for junk content. 2 of those posters you point out are allies trying to bring the communities focus on the issue as we need to attack this with EVERYTHING we have.
If we do not make an example of Haejin here and now, there will be many more like him who are emboldened to scam via devious means.
This would almost certainly be the beginning of the end for Steem thus we cannot afford to sit this one out. What say you @nonameslefttouse? I ask that you consider joining us.
Check out @flagawhale. We have been busy working on creative ways to help police the block chain. These things should have been done a long time ago.
Unfortunately, I was not apprised of the extent of abuse on this platform. As one who has been in the trenches for some time, I can tell you that it is bad. More often than not, I surmise scammers end up coming out of their schemes with profit and thus influence on Steem. We have got to get better at thwarting them and that precisely is what I have been working on.

You don't get it. The way nearly everyone is attempting to handle that little fucking playground happy happy fun time school play is a fucking embarrassment to nearly everyone else here. If I were to somehow magically get my work up to one of those slots, I'd be sandwiched between that nonsense. Maybe it means something to you, but it's not worth a goddamn penny. The way it's being handled and the lack of professionalism is an embarrassment and not worth even two seconds of my time. I hold myself to a higher standard and your propaganda on my blog will not nor will it ever be able to have any influence over my mind and the decisions I make as an individual.

Hi... complete newbie here at Steemit. I saw that feed on one of my first visits to the trending page and yes, you are right, a stunt like this does indeed discourage. I decided that moment that watching the trending and hot pages would be a waste of time and energy and decided never to return. I'll find alternative ways to find quality. On the other hand. I as well came across some of your comments here and there and you will to fight is unique in many ways. For what it is worth coming from a newbie: this platform needs people on the barricades, just like yourself, calling for order and mutual respect. Unfortunately. I only just read the white paper and was struck by the democratising potential of this platform. So much, that the initial idea to make some bucks here with my photography was no longer the reason to steer on. Steeming on was, with which I mean to say is, to try as hard as I can to contribute with the highest quality posts I can squeeze out. Well people like Joe Rogan are blessing for steem platform, 1 million people got glimps of this platform in one day, not a joke, how many of them would have registered, well growing this platform will not only help the platform, it will help us too, well using bots may help some times but not in all of the cases, you may suffer losses if you use them too much as you said, also when you do hardwork dont use the help of bots you enjoy the platform and the money you earn from it

The trending page is shit. I imagine how annoying it must feel to watch that shit get rewarded. I remember when I first understood what the bots do. I was like

I can clearly feel your anger while reading this. You are completely right, All I know is that reward pool used to reward every poster and curator is only limited each day. A couple whales (users with a lot of Steem Power) abusing this power by buying votes have enough power to claim a huge percentage of this reward pool if they vote regularly each day. That results in fewer rewards for everyone else when. This actually hurts everyone and rich get richer. I do agree, no one cares, at least not to that level to stop this abuse.

Well, I'll miss your presence, but I understand why! That is horrible, horrible publicity for us and honestly, yet another reason why the Trending page should disappear sooner rather than later. All it does is show crap and we would all be much better off without it. I'd rather have a combination of the Hot page and better promoted tags.

Just do what you do and don't look at trending. I never read anything from trending there is too much boring information (Except some of the sweetjs or Ned and Dan posts).
O totally agree with you, something needs to change with all these bot abusers and reward pool abusers, i know they are working with the system but maybe the system needs to change??
My account is 1 month and a few days old, i never used upvote bot sellers, and i won't use them, yes they might get me to the trending page, so what? i didn't get there because of my own content!! Hopefully the witnesses will do something about this, something needs to change if we are to preserve the future of this platform!
