The impressive power of nature and how life goes on.
Hi Steemians,
I have not posted for a while. Have been incredibly busy arranging our move to Spain, taking care of the kids and being involved in organising political events locally (more on that in another post).
I would like to share this with you though. We went out for a family walk in the woods (Felbrigg Hall, a truly beautiful place) and when we wondered off the beaten track looking for some boletus mushrooms we came across this tree.
Initially we didn't notice, but as we got closer it became clear that some silver birch trees had seeded inside the dead tree. This tree provided the shelter, support and nourishment for those saplings to grow strong. They might not have been so lucky in the forest floor. Moreover, from a distance it looks as if the tree has just sprouted new branches, defiantly, but it is not the old tree, it is something new altogether. This straight away made me think of our situation.
Our lives have been turned around, our careers - dead, our hopes in this country - dead, my sense of belonging - dead, my love for the UK - dead.... But out of it we might just come out better than we started. We are moving to a country with a better sense of work/life balance, better weather, better food, better life philosophy, but more importantly with better opportunities to fulfil our dreams. We will be able to afford the land we want to buy outright in order to pursue the lifestyle and approach to the planet that we have wanted for ourselves and our children for almost 10 years....
So as it happens nature has yet again taught me a valuable lesson. Out of that which may seem dead can arise something that is new and strong, different, might even be better. And while it will take me a while to understand why this has happened, life goes on, and we must get on with it... for our sakes and the sake of our family. I can only move forward by thinking and working towards a positive change and this might be a good opportunity for an excellent move forward.
Will keep posting as we move forward.
Love to you, STEEMIANS
P.S. funnily enough as I wrote this, the moving company arrived to do a survey... we move forward.
