Weight gain is a problem in winter because we are attracted to more consistent foods with a high caloric content. Red meat, sauces, creams or sweets are just some of the temptations of this season, which need to be replaced with healthier alternatives.

1. Eat fruit

In the cold season the immune system must be fortified so that citrus is a good source of vitamins and minerals. They contain antioxidants that strengthen the immune system, but also important vitamins for resistance to infections, such as vitamin C.

2. Add spices to the food

In winter, try to eat more spicy than usual. The foods will be more flavourful and will help you keep your inner rhythm more alert. They also speed up your metabolism and help you stay fit. Ginger, in particular, stimulates blood circulation and maintains high body temperature.

3. Hydrate yourself

What can be more enjoyable in winter than to watch out for the cold outside with a cup of tea? A good hydration of the body is very important.

4. Eat fish

Fatty fish (salmon, tuna, sardines) are the main source of polyunsaturated fatty acids, which increase the immune system's activity, which the body can not synthesize and must be fed through food. Also in fish we find large amounts of vitamin D, calcium, iron, selenium, zinc, iodine, with a beneficial role in the energy level and increasing the ability to adapt to cold.

5. Medicinal plants

We all have heard about the protective role of medicinal plants. For example, rchinacea stimulates and strengthens the immune system.
