Goals, Routines & Systems

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Too often in our lives have we've been told that we should focus our energies on setting goals when we want to be successful. Though they typically do more good than harm, being stuck in the mindset of setting goals can cause us to lose track of where we are in the present.

For goal setting to be effective we must be clear in recognizing that it identifies the desired destination, not the road map to get there. In order for goals to be realized, routines and systems need to be set in place. Routines and systems are the function and form that allows you to look at your goals like reasons to celebrate rather than something to gauge your success by.

An example of putting more focus on routines and systems as opposed to goals would be :

Instead of saying "I want to gain X amount of SteemIt followers or X STEEM POWER", you can commit to a few things that will definitely push your profile in that direction like

  • posting some original content at least 3-4 times per week (preferably more)
  • interacting with the community at least an hour a day
  • aim to participate in at least 1 SteemIt contest/activity per week
  • join and engage SteemIt groups like Steem Speak or PAL on discordapp

The combining of simple routines like this create the systems that will make your SteemIt profile or any other endeavors a lot more successful than just setting goals for yourself.

In the video below I take you guys on a trip with me while I start my day off with one of my regular routines...Check it out!

Very valid points! So many people get caught up in what they want that they don't build a roadmap for how to get there. I feel like with everything going on people are much less active right now and it's discouraging. To them I want to ask, why are you here? Are they here to create valuable content and engage in the community or are they here to make a quick buck and bail when it's convenient?

Indeed & thanks!
Yea I noticed that also. Not as much posting on here as I'm generally used to seeing.
These down times usually shake out the ones that aren't really committed...

A lot of people set goals and fail to put a plan in motion , and later get discouraged when they see no results . Great pointers on growing your Steemit network , I'll resteem for newbies !

Thanks sweetheart! Just trying to spread the knowledge

I really enjoyed this! It really is an eye opener about how a person has set up their routine inside their daily life. I was talking about this last night with a friend. Also, the person who works longer doesn't necessarily mean they are more productive because the person who works 5 hours per day could be getting a full solid productive 5 hours in rather than the person who is working 16 hours a day. Great vid and this vid could really help people to realize a lot!

Glad u could relate queen! Yea im all about working smarter not harder. It's east to get caught in the rat wheel if you're focused on goals and hard work...
