The term Conspiracy Theory is meant to have been first used by the government to discredit those who didn't believe the official line on certain issues. It's now used more than ever and now seems to be synonymous with, and now just shortened to, conspiracy as if there is no such thing as a real conspiracy.
The dictionary definition of course is just 2 or more people carrying out a subversive act.
This covers so many areas and events in life but we're not meant to refer to the dictionary to find the meaning of this word. Of course if we did we'd find that 911 fits perfectly its definition.
