MUSING CHRONICLES: What makes new year resolution to fail for some people?

First of all, I never make new year resolutions. I believe change comes with time and i definitely ease myself into it. New year resolutions in my experience are meant to be things and habits we want to either drop or start up.

These things come with time. You don't just wake up and say you are done with a particular thing especially if its something you are fond off.

You see, the human mind continues to record everything and plays it back in s loop for us. Breaking that loop abruptly is a very big task. We might be telling ourselves as the new year comes, things have to change but its mostly in vain.

These are my reasons.

1. Old habits die hard. Saying you wonna stop a habit is not as easy as it sounds. There will always be slip ups and if you fail to temind yourself that this is something you want or need to stop, well, its back to the drawing board from next year right....

2. The psychological reasons are always the killing blow. Thinking too much about how tedious whatever the goal is will always cause a downward spiral of your determination. Most times people take up being healthier as a resolution. Studies show that only 12% make it to the second week of February in the new year which in my opinion is a weak but valiant effort.

3. People do more of what they enjoy and less of what is important. New year resolutions are always what's important like keeping healthy. But then when you think of the fact that you're gonna have a healthy salad for dinner and not a cheeseburger or pizza wigh double cheese topping, we begin to over think it and again, there goes the determination.

4. We always give ourselves to much to do. Writing down a long list of things to change or be a part of or begin. It begins to weigh on you and the current lifestyle and our expectations surpass our physical capabilities and we are left with the hope that our emotions keep us determined enough to carry out this long list of imminent failure.
