I just woke up from an hour-long nap, and honestly, it felt amazing. This has become part of my weekend routine, giving myself as much rest as I can. All week, my days are filled with work, screens, and deadlines, so when the weekend comes, my priority is simple: sleep, nap, and reset.
Some people might feel guilty for “wasting time” sleeping during the day, but for me, it’s the opposite. Rest is my way of taking care of my health. That one-hour nap doesn’t just relax my body, it clears my mind too. I wake up feeling lighter, calmer, and more present. It’s like pressing a soft reset button after a long stretch of being on autopilot.
Good rest paired with good food is my ideal weekend combo. A warm meal after a refreshing nap just hits differently. It’s a small reward, but it reminds me that life isn’t only about being productive, it’s also about enjoying the simple moments that make us feel human.
Weekends, for me, are the best time to slow down and listen to what my body and mind need. If that means extra hours of sleep and quiet time, then I’m all for it. I’d rather start a new week feeling recharged than dragging myself through it with an empty tank.
As John Lubbock once said, “Rest is not idleness,” a reminder that taking a break is also a form of progress because we can’t pour from an empty cup.
