I enjoyed reading your post. You actually seem a lot like me only I watched Sanford and Son with my Dad before it was in reruns:) At first I focussed on careers that would pay well (advice from my Dad who grew up during the depression). Pre-med & Accounting only resulted in poor grades and academic probation. Then I took a comp sci intro class and aced it. I really enjoyed it and it didn't seem like work, but rather fun.
After a 30+ year in IT I took an early retirement package and I now have my own food business, wrote a comedy book, play lots of guitar and piano, so it's all good.
My advice is to always follow your passion but at the same time ensure you're making a living and saving for the future. I'm sure you will do just fine!!!
Thank you for reading it! I'm also thrilled to know I'm not the only one who enjoyed the antics of Fred Sanford with their dad. To me, he's one of the best characters that's ever been on television.
Your story is definitely encouraging to me, and gives me reason to "not panic" that I'm still not in a "niche" at my age.
Thanks again for the kind words and sound advice!
You need to listen to some of Redd Fox's old comedy albums. He was very witty, funny and quite filthy:) - Best of luck to you!
