Night Owls : Mind you screens!

in #life7 years ago (edited)

We all have been there : Its getting late, your eyes are glued to your computer/laptop/smartphone to read or watch something and...you can't fall asleep!

The sad depressing truth is : Your screen is your arch enemy..or rather, the blue frequency light it is emitting right into your eyeballs (especially if its from a smartphone glued to your face!) is.

You see, intense blue light is inhibiting the production of melatonin, a hormone usually produced a few hours before bedtime and that peak at midnight. Long story made short : no melatonin = no sleep.

Fear not, there is solution to mitigate this problem, within limits. Its called filters, that will drastically diminish the amount of blue light your screen will emit by switching the frequency of the light.

Best know free software: F.lux , it's been around forever, it's simple and just works. Install and forget. Available for most OS.

Special mention for Android : Twilight, does the same job as f.lux , which is available on the google app store but doesn't require Root like f.lux does.

Once you install those, you will never go back!

Hoping that it will keep a few of us from overindulging/drowning into a gallon of this mindbogglingly delicious and necessary to survival nectar of the gods that coffee is, the following morning.

I did warn you it was only a mitigation strategy, didn't i ;) !?
