What happens after death?

in #life8 years ago (edited)

Everyone will die eventually. But what happens after death?

Of course, I don't have an answer! But I have always thought about it every now and then, and think that it might be an interesting topic to discuss. Some possible ideas I have come up with are:

  1. Our soul got separated from the body and wander around. We become ghosts.

  2. We go to the void. It's somehow like sleeping without any awareness. We just lost control of ourselves.

  3. There could be an after-world led by God, be it Jesus, Buddha or whatever. Atheists and those who had a religion other than believing in the true God may be judged and punished there, while those who worshiped the true God while they were alive may be "living" happily ever after.

  4. We get reborn - not necessarily only in the future but also the past, and not necessarily human but any living things (could be the meat we eat today).

What do you say? Do comment and let me know your thoughts!

Interesting topic : ) I remember there are some theoretical discussions on this topic in a forum of scientists. Some of them mention that we may be living in a virtual world indeed, because everything in the universe seems to be governed by math equations. So then if we can't define existence, it's hard to say about death : )

That seems very much more than philosophical and goes to a theoretical level! However considering they're just unproven propositions, after all we can't verify whether it's true, and I'd say they are philosophical "scientists".. not sure if its really science!

I am a believer in the one True God and Jesus the Christ. I look forward to an eternal life in heaven. Glory hallelujah to the Lamb of God!!

Good faith! By the way, just thinking if heaven would be overpopulated, considering the long history of the religion? lol

Over-populated? Somehow I doubt that but we don't really know just how big heaven is. LOL

The baha'i faith believes that you will be thrust upon another world, one that you have no clue as to the appearance or nature. One example is the womb, that was the world we inhabited before this one, a child in the womb cannot fathom anything beyond the constraints of it's mother's body!

So they believe we'd get reborn if I've not mistaken (better than getting to the void imo!). Yeah, it's also possible that we'll get into another universe, one that is beyond our current understanding towards the world. That's another good perspective of thinking! Thanks for sharing with me :)

I say live now because you dont know what will be tommorow !

True, whether we have an afterlife or not, the most important thing is that we live once and only once in this world with the people we now know, so make the most of it!

So why should we care about our karma? More good karma means more time in heaven and hence it will take more time until the soul enters another body. Only after their stock of good karma is over that they fall down to earth,
It's not imagination and to enjoy it means enjoying them there in that specific realm before taking birth here again. Some people say heaven and hell are here only, on this very earth. But apart from this earth there exists other planes of existences and they are not imaginary.
Re-birth depends mainly on two points,Will of your subconscious mind and purity of atma. The rebirth process is very simple and is similar to cloud -rain-water-vapours -clouds and re-rain. Purity of atma is dependent on his karma.Like water with impurities will not evaporate unless separated from impurities. The purer the water the lighter will be it's weight and higher it can reach. For rebirth one has to attain a definite height. This process is very similar to the process of cracking of crude oil. Each and every karma either purifies or impures the soul. The more bad karma will lead to more impurities.

Thanks for your comments! Really love to exchange ideas with you people. I'm more inclined to believe karma matters, that's fair to the good people. I do hope there is heaven after life, I can't be sure, but whether there is one or not we should do more good things. For that good karma not only affects afterlife (if there is one), but also our lives now!

very deep thoughts.

When my mother got her ticket to eternity we planned a memorial service with her. I made her promise to show up but she didn't.

Maybe she did, just in a way you couldn't see. Or maybe she had to go to heaven straight.. think about the bright side

I could tell she wasn't there. One of her last activities was receiving Holy Communion even though that last week she was being given morphine.
I think she went straight to heaven.
