Quotes, Notes, and Women #38 - Alexander Pope

in #life7 years ago

To be angry is to revenge the faults of others on ourselves.
-Alexander Pope

Anger is unavoidable.

The fake friend who tries to call you out in public. The endless amount of people that can’t drive the speed limit. The spouse that sleeps with your best friend.

Know this: staying angry is pointless and will eat away at your soul.

If the problem causing you anger is current, work on solving it. If the problem causing you anger is from the past, ignore it.

Sometimes, a little bit of anger is good. Anger at yourself for not getting off the couch. Anger at yourself for not waking up early enough. Anger at yourself for not working hard enough.

However, use self-directed anger sparingly, and only as fuel for attacking your goals that much harder. Self-directed anger is a slippery slope. Unbounded self-directed anger will cause self-hatred, self-loathing, and depression.

Anger is drinking poison and expecting the other person to die from it.

Let it go, or transform its fury into fuel supply for your ambitious nature.
