How Lack of sleep is destroying your health.

in #life7 years ago

If you’ve ever spent a night tossing and turning, and did not get the sleep well you know how you will feel next day tired, cranky, and out of sorts. The immediate effects of not sleeping well are obvious. You’re groggy, unfocused, sluggish and dying for a nap or for a coffee. You’re overly emotional, starving and hyper than usual. Most of the time, a solid night’s sleep will solve all these problems. The long term side effects of lack of sleep are real and very dangerous.Your body needs sleep, just as it needs air and food to function at its best. When you sleep your body heals itself and restores its chemical balance. Your brain make new connections and improve your memory.. Without enough sleep, your brain and body systems won’t function normally. It can also dramatically lower your quality of life. A review of 16 studies found that sleeping for less than 6 to 8 hours a night increases the risk of early death by about 12 percent.

Average adult needs sleep of at least 6 hours daily but we know mostly we did not get that sleep. Few days of lack of sleep will not get you in danger but one week or more can.. After just seven nights of too little sleep, researchers observed more than 700 genetic changes that could play a role in consequences including heart problems and obesity. There are many diseases which can be caused by less sleep. Sleeping less may mean you put on weight. Studies have shown that people who sleep less than seven hours a day tend to gain more weight.Lack of sleep lead to long-term mood disorders like depression and anxiety. Studies have suggested that people who sleep less are at risk of having or developing diabetes.

There are some real time side effects which can disturbing for your personal life. Men and women who don’t get enough quality sleep have lower libidos and less of an interest in sex and this is not good for you life.Lack of sleep is not good for your heart, an increase in blood pressure and higher levels of certain chemicals linked with inflammation, which may put extra strain on your heart. These all things will not happen in one night of sleep. So if you are not sleeping well for a longer period of time, you’ll have built up a significant sleep debt, try to add on an extra hour or two of sleep a night. The way to do this is to go to bed when you’re tired, and allow your body to wake you in the morning .Expect to sleep for upwards of 10 hours a night at first. After a while, the amount of time you sleep will gradually decrease to a normal level. Don't rely on Coffee and energy drinks . These drinks may give you some satisfaction temporarily, but can disrupt your sleep patterns even further in the long term.
