IS THERE A MISSING LINK IN EVOLUTION?

in #life9 years ago

It has always been said that evolution of humans, as well as other animals; began from simpler forms (which started at the bottom of the sea) and evolved over the period of billions of years.

It is no news that science has traced the evolution of man to higher primates (Apes). I made a post of the origin of man from Ape in this article, so I won’t delve into it again, but there are some areas of gaps which were not covered by the evolutionary tree of man. These gaps are normally referred to as “Missing links

There is a theory that states that every living thing (Animal species) alive today has a common ancestry. This theory can be proven with these facts:

  • Comparative Embryology: This suggests that the embryos of different species of animals are similar in comparison to each other. From the image below, you can see that the embryos of various organisms (Fish, Salamander, Tortoise, Chicken, and Human), at earlier stages are the same comparatively.

Other theories include:

  • Fossil Records
  • Paleontology
  • Comparative Anatomy and Physiology. Etc

May I remind you that “Evolution” is a scientific fact. That means, it was gotten from the observation and testing of relative data, and have proven to be true at some point. But that doesn’t mean that it can’t be disproved in the long run.

In the concept of Evolution, because none of us lived through it, the only source of credible history is “archaeology” (Fossil records). And because of this, no one has been able to disprove the concept of evolution.

But the term “Missing Links” has suggested that there is a hitch in the trend of evolution.

One of the Missing links is:

If higher form of life (Humans and animals alike) began as simple life forms, how did the simple life form begin?

Scientists said that life began at the bottom of the sea, but we all know that atom can neither be created nor destroyed. So what then created the first form of life at the bottom of the sea? Was it created out of nothing?

The idea of “Missing Links” precedes the theory of Evolution. Because, until a suitable answer is provided for it, there won’t be a foundation on which the evolutionary structure rests.

Another question that comes to mind is:

Are we still Evolving?

This question is really deeper than we think.
