This picture was rated as the best image in the history of doctors, by Dr. Zbigniew Religa of Poland after a 23-hour heart transplant.
The picture was taken in 1987 after a long process of time. Many people differed in their time, but ranged from 13 to 23 hours. What distinguishes the picture is that the doctor is waiting next to the patient and not looking at the camera but at a screen to his right to monitor his patient's condition. The photo was selected as one of the 100 best-known photographs in the history of National Geographic.
