Carbon emissions and its severity in food production

in #life6 years ago

Since the end of the 20th century today, the whole world faces the worst problem in the beginning of the twenty-first century, climate change. It is such a problem that if everybody does not come forward to solve it, and if not aware of this, mankind's existence will disappear soon. Climate change that has been observed worldwide over the last few decades is alarming, and greenhouse gas emissions and carbon emissions have been identified as the main reason for this change. If this change continues and global warming is expected, by 2050 many cities of the world will be lost in the sea.

Whatever we are doing in our daily life, everything we use is, directly and indirectly, responsible for carbon emission. For example, we are using electricity, fuel, and vehicles which are directly responsible for carbon emissions. Again, the products we are using, in our everyday life, production, processing and the process of coming to the consumer, everything is indirectly carbon emission. In such a way, the amount of carbon emitted directly or indirectly by any person, organization, vehicle, commodity, organization etc., is to be done by the person, organization, vehicles, products, organization etc.

The surprising thing is that not only is the production of electricity, energy, vehicles, processed products, but also responsible for carbon emissions, production, preservation, and marketing of agricultural products are carbon emissions. It also includes animal meat production. A new study found that one or more of the causes of carbon emissions are due to the production of animal meat and agricultural products.

Among these, carbon dioxide emissions are due to the destruction of plants for agriculture, destruction of soil quality and burning of remnants of agricultural products in the field.

Methane emissions are due to the use of agricultural waste, fossil fiber, and organic fertilizers. Nitrous oxide emissions are due to the use of chemical fertilizers. And the release of hydrofluoric carbon, perfluorocarbon, and sulfur hexafluoride is through the methods used in the process of refrigeration, process, and marketing of agricultural products.

A 2008 study found that about 12,000 megawatts of carbon per year were produced from the production of agricultural products, which is 83 percent of carbon emissions in the entire food production system. Of these, 575 Mg carbon emissions from chemical fertilizer production and 490 Mg carbon emissions from freezing and other processes. Carbon emissions from whole food production system are 9800 - 16900 Mt.

A 2011 study showed that the number of carbon emissions increased by 8% from 1990 to 2010, and by 2030 it could rise to 15%. It is noteworthy that in the developed countries such as the United States, the production of agricultural products, it emits carbon dioxide in frozen and processing. In the 2011 same survey, ten countries have been identified as the highest carbon emissions in the production of agriculture. The countries are China, Brazil, USA, India, Indonesia, Russia, Congo, Argentina, Myanmar, and Pakistan.

Not only agriculture products, cattle livestock is also responsible for carbon emissions. It is to be noted that cattle here refers specifically to those animals which are known as red meat. In 2014 the famous newspaper The Guardian "expressed a request for carbon confirmation in cattle rearing where they referred to the need for more land and water as a cause of greater carbon emissions than cattle from other livestock. The amount of land required for cattle, goat, buffalo etc., in chicken or other livestock, is about 28 times higher than the amount of land required. Water is about 8 times higher.

A website called Guinness publishes a list of the amount of carbon emission generated in the production of certain types of agricultural products and 1 kg of animal protein. This list shows the total amount of carbon emitted from harvesting, processing, procurement to consumers, and the amount of carbon emitted until it is converted into food. The list is as follows:

As shown in the list, the amount of carbon emission that carbon emissions until converted into 1 kg of red meat is converted into a car, if a car goes 91 and 63 miles respectively. A study of Oxford University's British people's eating habits showed that if 100 grams per day or more of a red mix is transformed into food, then 7.2 kg of carbon emissions would occur. In case of vegetables and fish, it is 3.8 kg.

The above discussion clearly shows that our eating habits occupy a lot of space in the emission of carbon emissions. Many of us had this information unknown. Most of the discussions and public awareness programs on greenhouse gas emissions and its horrific consequences are being made aware of the disruption of factories, vehicles, plants and consequent natural disasters, including climate change.

From now on, people should not be aware of how much of their eating habits are responsible for carbon emission in all discussions and public awareness programs on greenhouse gas emissions, and accordingly, if there is no change in diet and other necessary conditions, then in the near future Undoubtedly there will be a terrible natural disaster.

It is true all the carbon emission produced by man, it falls on everything we consume, use and touch, it is in our clothes, our food, our water and nobody is aware of this, only silver matters.

I studied environmental engineering and the truth is that I have a very pessimistic vision of the future that awaits us all.
