Eight people were killed and at least 30 passengers were injured in the accident, leaving the passenger bus near Joypurhat-Bogra road. The accident happened around 1:30 in the afternoon. Five women and three children were among the dead.
Joypurhat Sadar Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC investigation) Mominul Haque said that a passenger bus from Joypurhat, MP Transport, Joypurhat Sadar upazila lost control and fell into a ditch near Baniapara Police Box.
Five women and three children died on the spot. They were rescued from the inside of their bus. The victims were initially known as Gaibandha district, but could not be confirmed.
